Wow. Mayor Smiley is pushing for a law that would award a 30-Year TAX BREAK to any developer that converts commercial property into housing, regardless of affordability. In other words, Luxury Apartments with monthly rents of over $3,000 would be awarded with massive tax breaks!

RIDE is doing things out of order as it approves charter school expansions without requiring any concrete information about a physical school building to accommodate the increased number of students. Then charter networks circle PPSD buildings like vultures over a carcass.

PPSD and RIDE want you to believe enrollment is dropping on its own, but behind the scenes, there are backroom deals to close schools and push K-8 models that keep displacing students. On top of that, the registration office is steering families toward charter schools.
