I’ve been to an awards ceremony at my son’s school today. Kids were awarded for 100% attendance, and specifically for coming into school when ill and “pushing through.” A teacher was awarded for working every evening &always being available. This needs to stop. It’s just wrong.

Do you offer free school meals for any staff in your school? How do you facilitate it? I think this would be a great way to support staff who are struggling financially and it's something I'd like to explore

Teachers, NEVER let anyone make you feel guilty for enjoying your time off from school. Whether you're excited on a Friday afternoon or Thanksgiving next week! Teachers pour out their heart & soul on a daily basis! You're human, you have to recharge!

Some days I shouldn’t be given a mic & a stage. Yesterday I said to 250 educators, “When students are assigned independent reading, without checking, we don’t know who’s reading, who’s understanding. We hope they are. But hope is not a pedagogy.” HOPE IS NOT A PEDAGOGY. 🦄©️™️😵‍💫
