One of my biggest mistakes early on was using revenue traction as the key signal for choosing startups. Traction definitely isn’t a negative, but there is so much more than the infamous MRR/ARR slide. I now largely make founder and market bets over business bets.

The market will also impact valuation regardless if a founder is repeat, technical, etc. The hot markets today are - Web3 - FinTech - E-commerce These 3 sectors are taking up substantial amounts of capital. With a few others like climate, EdTech, etc. for specialized VCs.
