I used to think the Smith's song There is a Light that Never Goes Out was about teenage angst but it increasingly sounds like conspicuous consumption. bbc.co.uk/news/business-…

Did I miss the bit on #ch4news where #RachelReeves mentioned socialism as part of Labour's offer to counter the carnage and chaos of Tory Britain?

The cost of meeting nurses’ demand for an inflation-busting pay rise: £1.6 billion. The cost of Rishi Sunak’s bank tax giveaways: £7.3 billion. If we can afford handouts for the rich, we can afford to meet the basic needs of those who keep this country afloat.

#r4today Rachel Reeves Nothing in the 2016 referendum question required leaving the SM. You're letting elderly economically inactive voters hold the economy hostage by refusing to do the obvious thing to grow the economy. Show some leadership.

#AvantiWestCoast According to the display boards at Euston, at 1755 the stock for the 1740 was due to arrive at 1800. It's now 1830 and it's expected at 1825 (5 minutes ago). Do you have any idea whether I'm going to get to Birmingham before the restaurants start shutting?

Second week in a row I've missed dinner in Birmingham because of #AvantiWestCoast's shambolic service. 75 minutes after I was due in BHM, have just had to change to a local train from Rugby. I won't get my dinner, but the shareholders will still get their dividends.

Labour backing down at the first sign of opposition from the vested interests that have run the country into the ground. It would be good to have an opposition party that had confidence in doing the brave and right things. This isn't it. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Surprised that the government spokespeople aren't trumpeting the success of their Brexit. Mel Stride didn't mention it at all this morning. Please start asking them about it, #R4Today.

#bbcbh News at start of programme has voxpops with monarchists in Australia but not with the republicans who were reported as being there. I thought the BBC was supposed to be unbiased, but this is how consent is manufactured.
