HMCS Sackville has returned to the Halifax waterfront! Now equipped with a second brow we are getting ready for summer visitors and are looking forward to our season opening on Thursday, June 26th.

In April 1982, the Royal Navy carried out an assessment of whether HMS BULWARK could be reactivated for service in the Falklands conflict. possibly as an aircraft repair ship. In the SECRET summary of their findings the USS HANCOCK or HMAS MELBOURNE were seen as a better bet!

The MOD began surveying BULWARK as early as 14 April 1982, barely 2 weeks after the invasion, for use as either an LPH or repair ship.

The MOD assesed she could be ready by end of August 82, and would require 8000 man weeks of effort to repair. Even HMS TIGER would have been used as an accom ship and for spares to support her!
