Walking amongst the walk up flats - wouldn’t they be so easily civilised by more landscape & trees…& less driveway & concrete.. Randwick Council had an excellent policy to try to improve them, but what’s happened? Really planning needs to prioritise tree planting & urban shade

Peter Dutton proposes a nuclear power station for Lithgow! (to replace coal-fired Mt Piper) Peter Dutton reveals seven sites for proposed nuclear power plants abc.net.au/news/2024-06-1… via ABC Australia

(1/2) Lithgow yesterday with Channel 10's Hugh Riminton. A nuclear power station is an unacceptable risk to Sydney's drinking water catchment (Warragamba). Risk of a major accident or leakage might be remote. But consequences could make the water supply undrinkable, forever.

The risk of a major accident or leak of radioactive contamination from the proposed nuclear power station would be very small. But the consequences would be catastrophic for Lithgow, NSW and all of Sydney. To manage this risk - don't build it in a drinking water catchment!

I agree - this 'Environment Protection Licence' in reality is a licence to pollute. And by the way, EPA charge nearly $1000 a week to regulate this! app.epa.nsw.gov.au/prpoeoapp/

See link to my article on housing - it’s urban form & transforming potential; it’s enduring character, both in terms of its permanent presence & physical durability; it’s design quality & too-little appreciated opportunities & obligations for architects architecture.com.au/archives/readi…
