Earth has seen 5 major ice ages: Huronian (2 billion years ago), Cryogenian, Andean-Saharan, Late Paleozoic & today's Quaternary Ice Age (2.58 million years). Mankind arose in a warm interglacial after 11,700ya. CO2 is a trace gas, which doesn't cause ice ages or control climate.
