Playing with a favorite #openmiddle for #matchmycl and I wanted it in Desmos for distance learning. x.com/pejorgens/stat… I hope nested functions the correct phrasing for f(g(h(x))). teacher.desmos.com/activitybuilde…

Another awesome #DesmosLive ! So much learning in so little time. Practicing new animation skill. Thanks @von_Oy Which one doesn't belong? desmos.com/calculator/jxu…

Left #desmoslive with animation and shimmy tips from @von_Oy and added them into our current pursuit of irrational lengths of line. We have been finding lengths in geoboard and it is time to order them. Thanks @desmos team.

So hard to pick a favorite part of our Math Teacher Lounge interview with @meganlfranke, but her critique of the idea of "mastery" is so convincing and important IMO. Watch the rest at mathteacherlounge.com.

Groups were given the task of building on our radical number line in @desmos. We started square roots of 20 and 80 and filled in the rest. We wondered about spacing. Can there be negatives? Where do you put the -? All responses were so valuable to our conversation #iteachmath

In person teaching... yay! How else can you set the scene for a passionate debate about whether the solution is 8 or 7.9 repeating? #iteachmath

We broke Desmos. Can we put them in order? Maybe middle school students can do what Desmos can’t. I needed to be patient as groups struggled to initiate. So many brilliant wonders and approaches emerged. #iteachmath #vnps

One of the more challenging 1:2 temp ratio days for the 1.5 mile walk from bus to school and back. It is hard to make sure I am dressed warm enough in the morning and comfortably enough for the walk (often hurried jog) back to the bus. Would 20/40 or 45/90 be more problematic?

So much joy at the Fletcher #mathcircle today. Spot it! We wondered how it was possible. We made a smaller problem and created cards sets for 3 and 4 images. We wrote and debated expressions and wondered why 57 wasn’t 55. TY Serge Ballif for inspiration youtu.be/lhTMr8RzUr8

It is so affirming when “yet” makes it into another promotion speech. I can’t thank Ruth Cossey enough for the inspiration so many years ago. Four items are in my bag as I was head home after 38 years. My dot matrix yet poster is one of them.
