Finally. We figured out the dense deposits in dense deposit disease (DDD).

The answer is Apolipoprotein E.

You can stain for APOE & make the diagnosis of DDD in >80% cases. Without electron 🔬.

I bet pathology conferences have competitions for finding things on a slide. Like first person who finds a Howell-Jolly body wins and when somebody finds it the whole auditorium cheers, but then the referee comes in and is like no thats a Pappenheimer body & they get disqualified
