Every time I have to attribute toxicities, I'm reminded of this gem that David Steensma, MD shared with me on how investigators confidently attributed side effects to a placebo

Reality is that attributions are subjective, inaccurate and (IMO) unnecessary

Over 2 grand for me!

Forced to spend $ so I could keep my job.

4 yrs of college, 4 yrs of med school, 4 yrs of residency, 3 yrs of fellowship, 1000s+ hours of patient care and just like that it came down to 2 grand.

I have 3 kids to take care of, so I wrote them the check

Unfortunately this is very challenging for some specialties (like mine oncology). I would love to not have to think about patients after work but I have to as ignoring would result in worse outcomes for my patients. It is what it is and it is the field I voluntarily chose.

To emphasize a key point - rare to see thrombocytopenia so always think copper with neutropenia and anemia!
