You can have the best plan in the world, but it will not be effective if you cannot communicate the plan. It's not about what you know; it's about what you can teach others.

You will never regret the time spent in preparation. Abraham Lincoln said, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” Take time to prepare and get organized.

Just when you think you have everything figured out, there is always someone there to remind you that you do not. Regardless of the level of success you have had in the past, never let yourself believe you have everything figured out. Humility is always right around the corner.

Seek improvement over status. Constantly be improving. You have no control over promotions, titles, or salary...but you do control your effort to constantly improve. If things are going well, that's when you should work to improve even more.

Some people are going to dislike you, no matter what you do to try to prevent it. There is nothing you can do to make everyone like you. Quit trying to please everyone. Just do the best you can. Trying to please everyone will please no one.

As an educational leader, what happened at Apalachee High today is my worst fear. I can't imagine what they are going through. The staff and students were forced to act so brave today. At one time, I was over Safety and helped train staff on these situations. While we worked

Being the Head Coach is tough. A lot of people think coaches just get Gatorade dumped on them and yell. That's not what it's about. You navigate difficult situations, that come out of nowhere, that you did not create, but will affect you.

Do a great job where you are now. It is perfectly acceptable to look for advancement opportunities, but the best way to advance is to be great at your current job. This will help prepare you for the future and build a great reputation at your current job.

Take initiative. Way too many people complain about not getting what they want, but they are the first to leave or first to say "that's not my job." If you want to be great, ask "what else do you need from me?" every single day.

Organizations spend an enormous amount of money each year looking for methods to improve their team, business, etc. The organization can only get better with better leadership. No phrase, acronym, or program is going to help if the leader is weak. Work to develop better leaders.

My In-Game Coaching Reminders - Coach your group regardless of the score. Each play is a chance to get better. - Do not let emotions take you from your in-game jobs (equipment, subs, etc.) - Leave the officials alone. Let the Head Coach handle it. You will not change their mind.
