Toronto Maple Leafs President and Alternate Governor Brendan Shanahan announced today that Mike Babcock has been relieved of his coaching duties and Sheldon Keefe has been named the Club’s new head coach. #LeafsForever

Mike Babcock played a vital role in the Leafs development from the basement towards playoff contention over his tenure. I am no doubt grateful for that and his contributions to the team. Unfortunately, things were getting stale and a change was needed.

I don't think firing Babcock is going to be an instant fix but I'll say this is the first time in weeks I've been interested in watching the next leafs game.

Hearing rumblings that upon hearing the news of Mike Babcock’s firing, Auston Matthews got on the treadmill to prepare for playing 20+ minutes for the first time in his career.

UPDATE - New reports coming in that possibly two individuals have suffered gun shot wounds of an unknown severity, shots have also been fired at vehicles in the area. This is reported as an active shooter incident at this time. Updates to follow when they become available.
