It was great to be part of Southern Heritage Trust #heritagefestival today presenting “Why Dunedin’s Named Scarfie Flats are part of our Heritage” - long title for a 6 min talk! Loads of fantastic talks and an excellent audience!
Lemuel Lyes Matt’s doing another tour today at 1pm and Susan and I are taking tours of University of Otago historic buildings at 11.30 and 3.30 - our Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga contribution to Southern Heritage Trust #HeritageFestival heritagefestival.org.nz/downloads/2019…
Thanks for this lovely and kind assessment of the 1869 Conference & Heritage Festival conference!
Heritage Festival continues today. Don’t forget to stop by the Archaeology open day to learn about recent research projects, including understanding the growth of urban Dunedin in the 19th century through excavation and material culture studies. Southern Heritage Trust #Otago1869
Ding dong! If you missed the Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga historic buildings walk this morning there’s one more opportunity at 3.30pm. Meet at University of Otago visitor centre. This event is proudly part of Southern Heritage Trust #HeritageFestival #Dunedin #otago150
1869 Conference & Heritage Festival This is somewhat surprising given that Victorian gentlemen are associated with overeating and with gout, but perhaps the vogue for exercise counteracted that. This was also of interest to me given that at the same conference I delivered a talk focusing on ME Braddon and Galton.
Tracey Jones's fascinating talk on Victorian mining women. Dr Tracey Jones Victorian mining women were accused both of having 'masculinized' themselves and of caring too much about 'frivolous' accessories and fashion. They could not win! 1869 Conference & Heritage Festival #AVSA2019 #Victorian #historyofmining
Now that 1869 Conference & Heritage Festival has been put to bed and tucked up, it's time to turn attention to theatre! I'm producing a workshop & public reading of Ben Hutchison's new play at Petridish on Sunday evening. Book now to avoid disappointment: eventbrite.co.nz/e/the-pill-box… Wolfgang Creative
