Day 2 of our #BigWildWalk for Derbyshire Wildlife Trust A gentle addition of 4.2km around our local area, with plenty of wildlife: Teal, Water Rail, and lots more fungi. If you can spare us a few quid then please donate here: thewildlifetrusts.enthuse.com/pf/steve-thorpe

Another decent #vismig over Breaston this morning 7-930 although not as busy as recent few days. Almost no Wood pigeon movement today but plenty of Fieldfare and Redwing west, 11x Golden Plover NE, 5x Pink-footed Goose E, and a few Siskin south #derbyshirebirds

Just made good use of our wild area British Geological Survey to have my lunch and take in the autumnal colours. A few birds but probably would have been better if I'd topped the feeders up BEFORE I had mine.... Notts Birdwatchers RSPB

Thanks for sharing @HolgerHke Great to be presenting at #GeoBusiness2021 on the digital transformation of data at British Geological Survey and how it's an innovation enabler. Come see us on Stand D6 to find out more! #geologymatters

We’re trapped in a truly rotten system. Not only is capitalism driving pretty much all life on Earth to extinction, but it’s keeping most people so busy and distracted that they’re not even really aware it’s happening.

Late morning visit to Swarkestone to tick my 3rd Tundra Bean Goose for Derbys, in exactly the same location as my first in 1995! Hard to resist when accompanied by 2 White-fronted Goose too. Great finds in this amazing corridor for migrants! Derbyshire Ornithological Society (DOS) BirdGuides #tbnDBY

First Derbyshire Ornithological Society (DOS) Swallows of the year at High Bridge, & at Barrow GP later. Also 5 Sand Martins, and conversely 6 Redwing and 9 Fieldfare, with a big flock of 65+ Linnet at Ingleby. Green Sand, LRP, Redshank. Mandarin was a site tick at both sites for me #derbyshirebirds

If any of my network have thoughts on geospatial data sharing, particularly boreholes then the #DigToShare team would like to hear your thoughts. The short survey takes about 7 mins British Geological Survey The Geological Society

Did you know that when a borehole is drilled the information gained is often only used once? That is changing with the addition of a new requirement to the #Construction Playbook that will enable greater access and reuse. The inaugural British Geological Survey Birding Group outing took place today at RSPB Langford Lowfields. Hobby, Marsh Harrier and a Barn Owl were highlights along with 4 Common Terns, 5 Common Gulls moving south, Black-tailed Skimmer and Brown Hawker (forgot to take photos of people!)
