I wish SeaWorld would honor Corky II for who she is, Northern Resident A16. More importantly, use the opportunity to focus more on raising awareness for her relatives with pinpointed presentations. Instead of using this for her advantage, I feel they mainly use her for theirs.

No matter what your opinion is on Dr. Ingrid Visser, she has saved the lives of many orca that were close to death's door. This photo is a perfect representation of her intentions. Ben the stranded orca was due to be shot, and her quick, strong-willed intervention saved his life.

Severe, prolific raking is a clear sign of hyper-aggression and instability in the social structure of the pod. In the wild, natural social structures are intact and orca can flee aggressors. In captivity, where incompatible orca are kept together, they have nowhere to escape.

A small collection of incidents/injuries which the marine park industry likes to refer to as happening under "normal circumstances." It's been clear since the beginning, that captive orca take out their frustrations on each other. Such statements are damaging and misleading.

The release of Blackfish created a sudden and massive wave of interest in both captive and wild orca, than did all the years of orca being captive in marine parks. And that momentum is still going today.

Everyone has the right to grieve over the loss of Kiska. That includes those who did not agree with her captivity. Her presence, her life, her story, was that strong and special that it impacted people on both sides of the fence. That's something we can all be proud of.

The original Shamu was a Southern Resident, believed to be born of J Pod. It's sad to think she was captured so she could be trained to entertain crowds during useless stunts like this. She belonged with her pod where she had a greater purpose. She lasted 6yrs in captivity.

All it took to disastrously alter the lives of 7 Southern Residents, end the lives of 5, and undoubtedly terrify over 80 others, was the approval of a $100 dollar "take permit." The 1970 Penn Cove capture, is fault of the marine park industry, whether they ever admit that or not.

#truth4toki is a last second, patched up effort by MSQ Trainers to look like Tokitae's only saviors, despite letting her live in poor conditions decade after decade and being silent about it. Advocating doesn't work that way.

I see things at SeaWorld are still the same and haven't improved much. Trainers continue to sustain injuries and bored, under-stimulated orca with poor dental health continue to pick and peel paint from the walls and floors of their tanks.

There is no excuse for Tokitae's tank to be in this condition. If #Truth4Toki really wants to help her, they can start by at least cleaning her tank. Just because there isn't an audience, it doesn't mean you start neglecting caretaking responsibilities.

I can't believe anyone, including Miami Seaquarium, ever felt it was acceptable to keep two orca in a tank this size. It's not even acceptable for one, but it's been Tokitae's reality for 52 years. 📸 Hugo and Tokitae, MSQ inherentlywild.co.uk/hugos-gallery/

Poor Cookie is already being put through the ringer. Two calves. One dead and another she barely knew and will never know again once he's shipped off to Zhengzhou as planned. Imagine how different her life may have been if she hadn't been captured. Probably better than this.
