#DidYouKnow? A Stage for Shadows! Two kinds of shadows play across the face of Saturn in this view from NASA’s Cassini. The planet’s rings cast dark bands across the cloud tops in the northern hemisphere. Near the pole, a shadow can be seen from the moon, Tethys Cr NASA NASA JPL

For 575 days, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act has sat on @senatemajldr's desk. Instead of preventing the next mass tragedy, Mitch McConnell would rather ignore a bill that has overwhelming support from both sides of the aisle? When will enough be enough for you, Mitch?

Republicans in Congress are morally bankrupt and utterly shameless; calling out their hypocrisy is not enough. We must sweep this election and wield our power to save what’s left of our democracy. There is no other option.

We know the orbits of the Earth around the #Sun , & #Moon around the Earth are not circular. I took a picture of the Sun at Aphelion & Perihelion (farthest & closest points in orbit) & the Moon at Perigee & Apogee to show the difference in apparent size. #Astrophotography

Just over a day away from its closest approach to Earth, here is Mars from Monday morning. Seeing was quite poor and the planet was grabbed in a cloud gap. Syrtis Major is almost central on the disk, blue hazes are seen at the limbs, and the S polar cap is almost gone.

.Astronomy Picture of the Day 2020 Oct 6 - Look to the east after sunset tonight and you'll see a most impressive Mars. Tonight, Mars will appear its biggest and brightest of the year, as Earth passes closer to the red planet than it has in over two years. buff.ly/2GKoOLl C: Jonathan T. Grayson
