Until today, I’ve never spoken publicly about growing up with a stammer and the challenges it brought. Having a stammer is often dogged by stigma. I want to break down barriers for people with speech difficulties, which is why it was great to share my experience on Loose Women.
The changes I’ve made to speeches, the words which are difficult to pronounce - on Loose Women today, I spoke about the challenges that still haunt me today due to growing up with a stammer. We need to tackle the stigma together.
80% of children that stammer are bullied in school. I know from my own experience. My stammer made me feel afraid to speak. That’s the reality facing thousands of people with speech difficulties. That's why I’ve shared my experience with Loose Women, to break the stigma.
