Died Today in 1886- President Chester A. Arthur. Buried in Albany Rural Cemetery with his other family. He was a widower - sister Ellen McElroy who lived in #Albany served as his official WH hostess. Arthur gets credit for his attempts to develop a non-patronage civil service.
