Welcome to NSA Souda Bay, Secretary Pompeo Capt. Rafael C. Facundo, commanding officer, greets Secretary of State Secretary Pompeo upon Pompeo's arrival at NSA Souda Bay on Sept. 28, 2020. The Secretary's visit underscores the strong U.S. security partnership with NATO Ally Greece.

Deeply impressed by my visit to NSA Souda Bay. Thanks to the Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement Nikos Dendias and I signed last year, our military-to-military relationship has been enhanced significantly. The strong NATO Alliance continues to contribute to regional security.

Glad to return to NSA Souda Bay w/Secretary Pompeo. Souda is the crown jewel of US-Greece defense & security, an important venue for day-to-day cooperation between our forces. Operations expanded during the #COVID19 pandemic, including recent visits by USS Florida & USS Woody Williams.

Thank you to Secretary Pompeo for visiting NSA Souda Bay today. During his visit to Crete he also met with Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis and toured a Naval Special Warfare Combatant Craft Medium boat and the Hellenic Navy Frigate H.S. Salamis (F-445) at Marathi NATO Pier Facility.
