The City of Tonawanda has imposed a travel ban. Note that this does not include the Town of Tonawanda.

The Travel Ban South of Broadway is expected to remain in effect through the overnight hours. A Travel Advisory remains in place for the rest of the City.

Effective immediately, the City of Tonawanda has lifted its driving ban. All other driving bans will remain in effect overnight and will be re-assessed early tomorrow morning to ensure they can safely be lifted.

A prolonged and intense lake effect snow event will continue through the end of the weekend east of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Lake effect snow bands will move north today. Travel is nearly impossible at times within the most intense bands.

Lake Effect Snow will continue east of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario today. Additional snowfall amounts of 1-2 feet are possible in the most persistent bands. An intense lake effect band across Watertown and Jefferson county will continue to produce 3-4 inch per hour rates today.

The Driving Bans are still in effect for the Towns of Brant and Evans and the Villages of Angola and Farnham contained therein. We have been advised many side streets still need to be plowed. No timeline has been established by the towns for lifting the bans as of now.

Lake effect snow will continue off the lakes today, with little movement in the snow bands through 4 p.m. this afternoon. This will result in dangerous travel conditions, especially off Lake Ontario in the Watertown area where snowfall rates will be 2-3 inches per hour.
