The perfect place to give my Ploughman Wood history talk. A room full of oak timbers felled in 1460, a product of a nearby ancient wood, Ploughman perhaps Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust

If you subscribe to our free newsletter you will be reading this morning about how Defra UK went to The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust for information in preference to taking advice of Natural England & Defra staff on gamebird licensing. This is the subject of a Wild Justice legal challenge🧵

Ink and watercolour number 2. We spent the day in Rutland on Saturday and had a short walk around Uppingham. I can guarantee that the next building I draw will not have bow windows!

First attempt at an urban pen and watercolour sketch of Victoria Park near where I work in Sneinton from a photo taken on a lunchtime walk last week. No idea what I'm doing with the watercolours but happy with this first go.

It can't be considered rewinding, the site is too small and too busy, but the management at Skylarks NR by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and these guys gives a glimpse of a wilder, more sustainable landscape

We shouldn’t have to choose between new homes, clean water & nature’s recovery 🌱

We’re urging the GOV.UK not to U-turn on promises to protect our environment and stop nutrient pollution.

I would like to let Rishi Sunak, Keir Starmer and Ed Davey know that climate and nature policies will be the main factor in who I decide to vote for at the next election.

Please retweet if you feel the same.

Here are some ideas for policies that would win my vote... 👇

Can't believe what I'm hearing. Swift bricks aren't even controversial. They're a cheap, easy way to restore our dwindling bird population. Yet neither Tory Minister, nor Lab opposition, will commit to make them mandatory. What planet are they on?? RSPB Hannah Bourne-Taylor

Another high count today, resulting in a total of 46 including several pregnant individuals. The grand prix circuit is almost complete. Shocking to see tarmacked paths being laid through woodland. Completely ruined the look & feel of the habitat. So much for improvements nottingham city ccl Nottingham Parks Nadia Whittome MP

As parliament debate today, a personal essay.

Deep in my valley is a tree so old it makes my bones ache. There are only a handful like it in the country, and its boughs harbour some of our oldest stories.

Yet almost no-one has ever seen it. 🧵

People (many farmers) think the damage was done between 1945 and 1980 - farmland birds have halved since 1980

It isn’t the ag technologies so much as the scale and speed and spread of them as intensive monocultures - and the time lags on nature

(Market driven, of course)
