I loved reading Christopher Pike as a kid. I would buy all of his books from eBay in bulk 😂. One of my favorite books was The Midnight Club. I could never get that book out of my head. It’s now a show on Netflix! I’m so excited to watch!

15 years ago my PhD advisor taught me One Weird Trick for editing your own writing. Edit **back to front**, paragraph by paragraph. I still use it and it still surprises me how well it works. When I get my students to do it, it often blows their minds. Try it!

I’m teaching engineering this year. I tell my students that failure is part of the design process. Iteration is necessary to achieve the final product. That type of thinking has shifted the way I view drafting fiction. Now, each writing fail feels a lot like a win! Keep writing!
