How do 70 years of evidence not suffice? Outward looking reforms, openness, and export competitiveness (not promotion) is key. IS never worked and will not - it warps domestic incentives and slows reforms!

Robert Reich said "Capitalism is Killing Democracy." Peter Theil said Democracy is Killing Capitalism. Which is correct? Vincent Geloso and I argue that the data reject both the Reich and Theil arguments. Democracy and Capitalism go hand in hand! marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolu…

The Eric Schickler essay in Larry Bartel's symposium on "What Trump Has Taught Us About Political Science" is one of the most insightful pieces I've read in 2025. US Constitution & institutions turned out to be weak, and we have to rethink conventional wisdom.

This gig work debate would not exist if we had avoided the socialist nonsense of the 70s and 80s. We would have had manufacturing. By now, we would have had more high-quality employment opportunities and a higher per-capita GDP, leading to higher pay for gig workers, too.

The water-cooler conversation on China is warped beyond measure. It doesn't do good to take China lightly, but to say that the Chinese system works and is "winning" just means one is buying into CCP propaganda.
