Creating space for others doesn’t mean someone is necessarily asking you to give up your space. use your agency to create bigger equitable spaces rather than centring yourself or feeling attacked when you weren’t. Just because you do EDI work doesn’t mean you can’t be wrong.

Here’s why experience matters when running for Mayor (think Larry O’Brien) - I just fact checked some promises made by Mr. Sutcliffe and I found some interesting things. #Ottnews #Ottawa #Ottcity #Ottpoli

We went undercover to investigate how some real estate agents, mortgage brokers and bank employees are perpetrating mortgage fraud for a fee, and securing their own commissions by submitting fake documents for approval. Watch our episode Friday at 8 pm on CBC-TV and @CBCGem.

So much talk about how to support CUPE. When workers are on strike much of their concerns are financial. When I walked a picket line, the drop offs of coffee, etc. piled up. Think about grocery gift cards. Go to a picket line & hand them out.

The approximate annual cost for the raise requested by CUPE is $264m. The $200 per child bribe Lecce recently gave out cost around $365m. The license plate renewal fee brought in approximately $1b each year.

The view that healthcare and education privatization will solve our problems is only held by those who think they’ll profit and those who think they’ll be able afford it. Most will be wrong.

Good question. Why did land speculators buy land that could not legally be developed, once DF was in power? And now can make tens of millions from those purchases, because DF and the Ontario Conservatives are now legalizing development on that land? Why oh why?

In case they need reminding, I’ve compiled a list of all the times Doug Ford and his housing minister Steve Clark said they wouldn’t touch the #Greenbelt (caution: long 🧵 ahead):

If, like me, you don't have a family doctor in Ontario and have used a virtual service to fill that gap - that might be harder after Dec 1st. chng.it/bvHFpMFqng

What a blow to equity in the #GC, to hiring people across the country, allowing people with disabilities and people of colour to work safely and freely from their homes with less discrimination. What a blow to all of us trying to keep ourselves and our sick family members safe.

There are more differential impacts that I could mention but I think folks get the key points… today’s decision is not evidence-based, it is not informed by the lived experiences of those who will be most impacted. The decisions are not equitable. Today we have been let down

So most everybody I talk to hates this return to the office announcement but it is actually interesting to see what folks focus on. It really depends on their backgrounds, both personally and professionally. Let's go through the list:

Why do we keep branding it as Digital Transformation in #GC? I know from learning about it that client-centred is supposed to be part of it. But it tends to get buried. It should be the most important part. Who cares if something is digital if it's not client-centred.

Ontario ERs due to underfunding are being asked to cut costs. Yes - you are reading this correctly. Ontario ERs due to underfunding are being asked to cut costs.

Nicole O'Shea (@nicoleoshea05) 's Twitter Profile Photo

That's the recurring problem though isn't it. Instead of building policies shaped by things like mental health, diversity, and accessibility, the burden is placed on employees to 'be resilient' and find personal ways to reduce it's negative impact.
