#LFF first of two days at the festival this year I’m going to see the new Knives Out, Ballad of a Small Player and the surprise film!

I can only speak from my experience of teaching film at university but I have noticed a couple of things. Probably most importantly, I think while some say that people watch the “old masters” less I have noticed more love for non-English language films (outside of usual suspects)

This is such a limited way of talking about film distribution. Do you really think that WB would have financed OBAA that much, if it wasn’t part of a wider strategy? They have other long term goals and a film like this will make its money for them in that capacity.

So right, I cannot believe how beautiful 28 Years Later is, it is one of those perfect movies.

Mark Kermode begins his review of Die, My Love by saying that Lynn Ramsey got career best performances from Samantha Morton (Morven Caller), Joaquin Phoenix (You Were Never Really Here) and Tilda Swinton(!) (We Need To Talk About Kevin) It’s a bold claim but I think he’s right.
