Hannah Fry ..alternatively, there's this 2007 (?) ignoble prize winning bit of research on Sword swallowing injuries, with the brilliant line "Major complications are more likely when the swallower is distracted or swallows multiple or unusual swords" pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17185708/#:~:t….

Cards on the table. I’m a nurse, I’m on £84k a year plus expenses. My hospital has heavily subsidised bars and restaurant and best of all free car parking. I didn’t even have to study or have a degree or anything. Oh hang on, that’s MPs, not nurses

I've just completed all the puzzles in the mscroggs.co.uk Advent calendar! My favourite puzzle was the strings of 1s and 2s with no consecutive 2s on 11/12

I read this book in one sitting. Full of compassion, education, ethics and humanity. I really look forward to discussing with Jim at #FarnhamLiteraryFestival in a few weeks. farnhamliteraryfestival.co.uk/portfolio/dr-j…

Teaching FP1 Conic Sections and there a few interesting textbook questions. Most problems are solved via parameters but a small number of problems are best attacked with catesian equations. It's really tricky to see when to avoid parameterising! Some examples to follow.

Q5 from Cayley 2023 (aimed at the top 500 Year 9 pupils as judged by IMC score). Marking so far suggests it was found to be rather difficult for this age group!
