For #HelloYellow at school we designed a banner to hang in our classroom raising awareness for children’s mental health. I was blown away with what the kids came up with!

In Science we used Numbers to help us understand the relationship between gestation periods and life expectancy. Great results Year 5, well done!

Year 5 have worked hard at developing their clay modelling skills this half term. Earlier today, they combined these skills to create their own bust of a Tudor monarch out of clay. Great work Pine Class! Northumberland Heath Primary School

Year 5 have had an exciting Big Bag Day! We trained to become astronauts by testing our memories, reaction skills, teamwork and listening skills. We also designed our own solar systems, using chalk.Northumberland Heath Primary School

Today, Pine class explored number patterns and rhythms to deepen their understanding of numbers. We used Garage Band and our times table knowledge to create rhythmic beats. Can you identify the times table that were used? Northumberland Heath Primary School

For Big Bang Day, year 5 decoded hieroglyphics, wrote cartouches onto handmade papyrus, built spaghetti and marshmallow pyramids, created silhouette artwork and designed a keynote presentation to showcase everything they learned! We all had so much fun!

Today in chemistry, the children investigated soluble/insoluble materials by seeing which materials could dissolve into water and create a solution. By documenting the learning on Numbers, the children had more time for meaningful conversations and for critical thinking!

Pine class had fun creating some excellent drawings using the styluses that NHP Year 5 won, in the Woodland Academy Trust trust wide competition, during our well earnt recognition time. Northumberland Heath Primary School

In RE, we are looking at the significance and qualities of Islamic Art (which uses a lot of tessellation and symmetry). We then recreated our own using Sketches School on the iPad! Here are some of the children’s beautiful pieces! #edutwitter #sketchesschool

This half term Year 5 have been learning about the Amazon Rainforest, with a focus this week on deforestation. The children showed their understanding by creating a poster, a Keynote, voice note or writing in full sentences. Northumberland Heath Primary School MrDDavies #UDL

It was Big Bang Day for Year 5 today and we focused on the Maya civilisation. We learnt about, and played, their deadly ball game ‘Pok ta Tok’, made hot chocolate and discovered why it was so important to them as well as painting our faces in a Mayan way.Northumberland Heath Primary School

Beech Class enjoyed their Big Bang day today looking at face painting, Pok-ta-pok and making hot chocolate with chilli! Using Keynote was a great way for the children to make a presentation showing off all their new found knowledge!

Year 5 had an amazing time with The Chocolate Museum today. They learnt about the history of chocolate, tasted and made chocolate. It was a very exciting and tasty experience! Northumberland Heath Primary School

Today we immersed ourselves in our new topic, Super volcanoes. We found out how super volcanoes are formed, experimented with cola and mentos to explore why volcanoes explode.
