Spending #InternationalMotherLanguageDay by reading stories of heroic brown women in my mother tongue, the sweetest ever - বাংলা (Bangla). Paying homage to the martyrs of the language movement who made this possible - whose fight, grit and love was the brightest shade of red.

Accurate data on typhoid burden is crucial for policy intervention to Take on Typhoid. Blood culture surveillance is resource-extensive, prohibiting sustainable implementation. Typhi is a water-borne pathogen & we tested the potential of Typhi-specific phage surveillance. 2/6

Learning and applying pathogen genomics in Bangladesh, with friends from around the world! 🇲🇾🇺🇸🇧🇩 We ended our 2-week hands-on training with a dorky presentation on how genomics helps us understand outbreaks (and save the world in the process). ✌🏾

The first day of this webinar series, with expert insights and comprehensive overviews of sequencing techniques 🧬, was a wonderful intro to pathogen genomics for public health 🦠. Thanks to the organisers for making it free for all to attend. 🇧🇩 Looking forward to Day 2!

We discussed the evolution of scientific papers from 1665-2024, read the first paper on genomic epidemiology and wrote each of our abstracts in 20 minutes to jot ideas down. 10/10 trainees would recommend learning the essentials of science writing from Senjuti Saha, PhD | সেঁজুতি সাহা Yogesh Hooda.

April's highlight was meeting Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF)'s friends from CAMO-Net and moderating a panel with the diverse experts. The dialogue was focused on the need for equitable, interdisciplinary global health research and making some noise for the silent pandemic - antimicrobial resistance.

3 years later, their wish came true 😒 This is how my wonderful husband decided to surprise me at midnight. Vol 27: A new pipette I'm the first woman in my family to pursue a PhD. Every time I get imposter syndrome, I remind myself to be the scientist they celebrate me to be.

I got my first exposure to NIH R01 grant applications during an all nighter with my mentors Senjuti Saha, PhD | সেঁজুতি সাহা Yogesh Hooda. Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF) will dive into the hidden world of phages for the next 5 years to understand its predator-prey relationship with bacteria. Great day for science in 🇧🇩 🎉

As a science communicator, I've learned so much from following Prof @paimadhu on Twitter since 2021. His dedication to addressing colonialism in global health and eradicating TB is truly inspiring. Honored to meet him in person and share Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF)’s journey of science & advocacy!

The 1st recommendation letter I ever wrote was for Prottoy Roy, who’s off to Brown University this fall. Mentoring him over the past 1 year as our 1st fellow Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF) has been a delight. So proud to see him describe himself as an aspiring researcher AND science communicator now ❤️

Teenage Nazifa would be IN AWE that her favourite YA author became a science storyteller and activist. Absolutely love everything about this and all that John and Hank have done to advance science education and awareness.

No better way to spend World Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Week #WAAW than discussions around #OneHealth! Thanks Dr. Dr. Erika Ganda for organising this amazing event and getting clinicians, veterinarians and social scientists in one place to discuss all things AMR!

Happy #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience! From not knowing what a scientist looked like growing up, to setting up science camps in my first job & showing young girls that scientists look just like them—it's a privilege to have found my calling as a scientist & storyteller.
