Whilst people are entitled to dismiss the words of a lawyer on this issue, I could not agree more. The time has come for a public and transparent inquiry into maternity safety. This can only be achieved through a statutory inquiry whatever the flaws in that process

The campaign for a national statutory maternity public inquiry goes on - ( it would be judge led, witnesses could be compelled to give evidence --and be more in depth than the rapid investigation announced by the Health Secretary ) bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Maternity safety starts with truth. Wes Streeting’s words yesterday are welcome, but change needs courage, honesty, and action. Not by just 10 trusts, but by the whole of maternity services. #MaternitySafety #WomensHealth #NHS #PatientSafety

Wes Streeting we told you the regulators need scrutiny and now even The BMA are acknowledging GMC is ‘no longer fit for purpose’ and ‘does not represent the interests of the public or the medical profession’. These are multi-organisational failures. We need a Public Inquiry.

“The big mistake I’ve made in my first year is approaching that issue...in what I'd describe as a conventional way of doing government policy." Health secretary @WesStreeting admits he mishandled the early stages of the government’s maternity policy. @AdamBoultonTABB

Oh lord just got off a call with Nottinghamshire Police about the malicious deletion of files at NUH and let’s be fair the police have done what they can. But we still don’t know ‘who done it..?’… Here are some numbers 1026 files were deleted These belonged to 460 families

For too long, women and families have been ignored. This Labour Government's 10 Year Health Plan puts maternity care centre stage. I look forward to continuing my work with the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Wes Streeting in my role as the Chair of the Maternity

After the weirdest of week, I made it to Richard Hawley at York Museums Trust Gardens. It’s a beautiful evening for it, and I got to meet one of the support acts, Hamish Hawk.

We have arrived at the beautiful Mallory Court Hotel in Warwick to start graduation celebrations for our daughter. It’s a VERY early start tomorrow and feels not dissimilar to a wedding (nowadays flowers are required for photo purposes!). I couldn’t be prouder of her. 🎓👩🏻‍🔬🌟

Sussex families have been clear with Wes Streeting Department of Health and Social Care that the only person we trust to investigate our babies' deaths is Donna Ockenden FRSA, Hon DLitt Hon DSci. Grateful to have the support of Nottingham families, who know first hand how important it is to have the right team for the job.
