An area of showers and thunderstorms, some possibly severe, will move through the area on Friday afternoon and into the evening hours. The greatest threat for severe weather, and localized flash flooding, is north and west of NYC.

Nassau County has the potential to experience isolated or scattered thunderstorms and flash floods on Monday, July 18th, 2022. There is a marginal risk that these thunderstorms are severe, as well as a marginal risk of excessive rainfall.

The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that beginning Wednesday, October 19, both directions of the Loop Parkway in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, will be closed to traffic on weeknights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The overnight closures are necessary to facilitate the ongoing rehabilitation of the drawbridge over Long Creek and are expected to last three weeks, weather permitting.

The Nassau County Office of Emergency Management is currently monitoring a potential heavy snowstorm expected to impact the region Monday evening into Tuesday. There is currently a winter storm watch now in effect from 4AM Tuesday through 6PM Tuesday.

The Bayville Bridge is closed from now until April 1, 2024 which means the Village can’t be accessed via West Shore Road – the only access into the Village is at the west end through Locust Valley.

Beginning Monday, May 6th, both directions of the Loop Parkway will be closed to establish a new traffic pattern to facilitate the ongoing steel deck replacement project on the Long Creek drawbridge. The road will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for approximately two weeks.
