This time a few years ago we were locked up in our homes to avoid killing granny. Now we’re debating legislation to let the government kill granny instead.

This is a classic manifestation of cowardice. They know the problem. The solution, too, is known. They just can't bring themselves to deliver it to ALL women. So instead, they 'compromise' at the expense of women. It's just a different manifestation of "we can balance both sides"
