On Jan 7, 1876, missionaries Dan Jones, Helaman Pratt, A.W. Ivins, R.H. Smith, A. Tenney, and J.Z. Stewart crossed the Rio Grande and entered Mexico, just south of El Paso. They recommended that future colonies be built in the state of Chihuahua. - research.cgu.edu/mormonism-migr…
