A very unscientific experiment about rain hitting the soil surface. This is a shallow bowl and each site received an inch of rain. Left is disc ripped soybean stubble and right is corn stubble with cereal rye. Draw your own conclusions about soil movement.

Reason number 252 why we are having uneven emergence in 2023? Excessive residue from lack of moisture. Why is this a problem? 10 degrees difference in soil temps 5 feet apart. Covered soils are staying cold. John Reigelsberger AgriVisionSolutions
