What we didn’t know 7 days ago was how much supposedly reliable gas & coal would be offline. Today, according to ERCOT's press release, it’s an astonishing 12GW. That’s two Houstons or 2.4 million homes (!) worth of power unable to generate. #txlege #txenergy 6/

“Justice is good for the biosphere.” I’m finding this conversation (and this whole series) really invigorating, mind-expanding, and hopeful. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/bet…

"In the long run, we are going to win. Fossil fuels are just too expensive, dirty and dangerous... The climate crisis is getting worse, and Congress is one vote short of saving us. We’re going to have to save ourselves." @LeahStokes said it best. nytimes.com/2022/07/16/opi…

👏👏👏 We cannot say this enough or scream it any louder! Thank you GLAAD for this guidance in particular on how the media should cover the educational censorship movement happening across the country.

The #ERCOT Board just heard a long presentation on load forecasting including planning into the 2030's. There was no mention of #climatechange. Not one. They use average temps to project load. No wonder we're unprepared. #txlege #txenergy #txclimate ercot.com/files/docs/202…

Did you know? 3/4 of the US's emissions goals under the Paris Agreement can be acheived by state and local governments, according to a study by Bloomberg Philanthropies. Climate is truly on the ballot - get out there and vote for climate champions today!

The best explainer I've seen on the high number of power outages. Besides the reduction in tree trimming, what's even more interesting is severe drought is weakening trees, making them more prone have branches break when under the stress of ice. A local climate change story.

You know I love stories of non-traditional entrepreneurs... Here's a good one. It's about a Quaker who wanted to help his non-profit org track its donations. Check out the solution he built and how he sold it at age 65 👇
