I attended the annual #Arbaeen pilgrimage to #Karbala in Iraq this summer. Here is a 🧵 that attempts to share my experience for the RE community to perhaps benefit from.

‘Allah’ means ‘god’ in Arabic. It doesn’t specify the god one is referring to. For me, a Lebanese and Maronite Catholic who speaks Arabic, I refer to God (our trinity) as Allah. I also say ‘inshallah’ meaning, ‘if God wills’. Please stop with the ignorance.

An amazing thread from Ayatollah Zam about #Arbaeen pilgrimage. I am so struck by the generosity and sense of self giving in this event. It is truly humbling. We will examine Karbala in Oak National Academy curriculum and it’s a great topic for all schools! NATRE

Does the Qur'an teach that non-Muslims can make it to paradise? Folks who say "yes" often point to Q 2:62/5:69, which seem to say that Jews & Christians are ok, but Q 22:17 is even more interesting, as it suggests that *everyone* (even a polytheist) has a chance.

This verse would have been a perfect opportunity to say "Believers" will be rewarded but everyone else punished, or "Believers," Jews & Christians will be rewarded only. Instead everything is left to God's inscrutable judgment.

Shabnam Khaliq Miss Eva NATRE I think to say “Buddhism is atheist” is to gloss over many colourful traditions and stories for the sake of making it palpable for a post enlightenment secular age and this does Buddhism disservice. Why has there been a tendency to privilege writing over speaking, listening, and reading? 🤔 While oracy is gaining attention, high-quality talk in classrooms is often viewed as optional rather than an essential entitlement for all pupils. Why do we believe that written
