Hope the day comes when the standards do NOT include the standard algorithms. We need forward-looking not backward-looking thinking!

I know we’re supposed to make our decisions based on the needs of the students... but we can never discount the needs of the adults in the school. They’re the ones taking care of the kids. And they want what’s best for students as well.

A principal in Texas has requested a K-1 workshop on NUMBER SENSE. We'll define it, develop it, and teach it in a way that lays the groundwork for high school math. In Kindergarten! Join us as we ring in the New Year. 2021 is going to be great! docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI…

There will be circumstances this year that are out of your control. But this year, you will have the potential to impact a child’s life. And you can always control what you do with that potential.

Parents send us the best kids they have -- the ones they love the most. When we’re mindful of that… we can be a little more patient, a little more tender, and a little more compassionate.

Always said I care about each student as if they were my own & now having a child I KNOW it was true. Feeling concern, pride, love, etc. for every student I’ve taught. What I now understand is what a parent feels trusting someone else with their child. #Eyeopening #Powerful

Interesting to think about...do we allow the children the same leeway we do ourselves- some days are more productive than others for SO many reasons

"It's easy to judge. It's more difficult to understand. Understanding requires compassion, patience, and a willingness to believe that good hearts sometimes choose poor methods. Through judging, we separate. Through understanding, we grow." ~Doe Zantamata

Rigor has nothing to do with how hard we grade or how many students earn As. It has everything to do with the bar that is set. All students can excel, and it still have been rigorous. #LeadInclusion #sblchat
