Addition, subtraction, & multiplication, oh my! These 2nd grade mathematicians showed several different ways to make the number 60 this morning during our number talk! Their thinking, recording, & peer-to-peer collaboration never cease to amaze me! Kenwood Elementary KRISTIE!!

After reading “Skin Like Mine” the students in Room 10 made self portraits and used adjectives to describe their skin. I love them so much❤️ Kenwood Elementary

We are learning about schools around the world thanks our EL Education module in 2nd grade, so @TracyMadryga set up a Google Meet w/ a school she visited in Colombia! We were able to compare/contrast their school to Kenwood Elementary. We all learned so much @jhendersoneds JCPS

2.NBT.5: I can find the missing subtrahend within 100. We are having so much fun using manipulatives to explore & deepen our understanding of numbers w/in 100! I am so impressed at how well they are recording on paper & defending their responses verbally! Way to go, kubs💚🐻

We are learning about fossils and paleontologists thanks to our EL Education module. Students wrote about what tools paleontologists use and then drew a picture to match their writing! We are having so much fun with this unit! Kenwood Elementary @jhendersoneds JCPS Elementary ELA

Today we conducted a cookie dig based on our EL Education module. Students were given a brush (brand new), chisel (toothpick) & a chocolate chip cookie! They were then asked to extract a fossil (chocolate chips) from the rock (cookie). What a fun & yummy lesson! Kenwood Elementary

Applying the area model for two-digit by two-digit multiplication in second grade?! I think YES! These students are THRIVING in our small group! I’ve never heard “can I please do another one!?” so many times! Proud is an understatement! Kenwood Elementary KRISTIE!! @jcpsK5math
