We had our first house competition on Team GRIT yesterday and the best part of it was how excited each team was for the winning team. So much positivity and genuine enthusiasm for each other while still competing. It’s a very good sign for the rest of this year.

It never fails. Scholars ask if they can pick the music for the classroom playlist and claim not to like my choices but within about 3 weeks they’re boppin’ along and learning the lyrics.

Sometimes you have a really good day and then sometimes sitting on a child’s still wet art project forces you to not work the power zone as often as you normally would. Jk, we acknowledged that this was an objectively funny situation and continued with the learning.

Always great to see a former colleague who has continued to grow and help other teachers as well as students. Dr. Carla Kent was excellent in this mentor training!!

I told my students today so I think I need to mention #onhere that after winter break I’ll be joining Shepherdsville Eleme as an assistant principal. I’m incredibly grateful to all wonderful students and people I’ve had Robert Frost and I’m really excited for my new role at SES!

Our students have been working so hard on the school play for the past few months. It’s wonderful to see all the effort they’ve put in come together!!

Our students and staff had their houses revealed to them at SES today. We had to adapt our plans a bit and you know what? I think it it was very effective. It was so fun to see staff and students excited. A really great way to finish our first week. Shepherdsville Eleme

Dear new teacher, You do not need a teacher tiktok, IG, and Twitter. You do not need to open a TPT store. You do not need a specialized handshake for each student or a song and dance for each lesson.+

Thinking about this, to be clear a TikTok, IG, and Twitter account aren’t inherently bad, but often they’re like a lesson built around a fun activity instead of being based upon standards. Nothing wrong with these things, but they shouldn’t be the end goal.
