What an awful saga this has become. Some day, culpability for dicking around with these poor animals will be established. Prison sentences should follow. All this for vanity and sycophancy! indianexpress.com/article/india/…

Re-upping. Deep sea mining makes questionable claims; and comes with hard ecological impacts. This time around, will the world heed scientists' warnings or will it be deja vu all over again -- a la global warming?

On point from Aakar Patel. Take what happened to MP's once-illustrious culture department under the BJP and the RSS -- high budget for events, most tenders to one company, and low salaries (Rs 30,000 a month) for artists. 1. thewire.in/political-econ… 2. thewire.in/political-econ…

“I asked Kaushik, ‘Why would you kill a Muslim? Only because of a cow?’” said Mishra, sitting in a chair on the rooftop of his two-room apartment in Faridabad. “‘You could have shot at the car wheel or called the police. Why take the law in your own hands?’"

Astonishing how little we know about our planet. This gorgeously produced @reuters report on the costs/benefits of deep sea mining was published last November. Less than a year later, comes a huge new discovery. The nodules eyed by miners produce oxygen (carboncopy.info/deep-sea-minin…).

“Europe has a China problem.” Don't take it from me. But from the EU's budding new trade Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra. In a new speech in Eindhoven, he raises alarm about restoring a level playing field w. China. And points to another specific area of concern: electrolysers. 1/
