🛤️The Mukono-Kampala Passenger Train is back!
General Edward Katumba Wamala got on board to get a feel of it following the rehabilitation of the line with concrete sleepers.
🚉The train takes 2 trips in the morning and 2 trips in the evening at a fee of only Ugx 2000,
METRAC, the 1st Operator Training Center in Uganda has been constructed through a grant from The Gov't of Japan & implemented by UNIDO Uganda. Government of Uganda purchased the 10 acres of land. Phase 1 of the project included a gate house, administration block, classrooms & the maintenance block
Phase 1 of the Mechanical Engineering Training & Advisory Center (METRAC) is complete. The facility, located in Kakinzi, Luwero District will resolve the lack of skilled operators through effective & efficient training of operators.

Construction works for Bukasa Port, a modern high-capacity port to be built on the shores of Lake Victoria have commenced. The port will form part of the Central Corridor, Bukasa- Mwanza-Musoma-Tanga-Dar es Salaam, linking Kisumu via Lake Victoria & Mombasa by rail.

The Project is currently being implemented with the fitment of Government of Uganda vehicles with the new digital No. plates. We so far have fitted 528 vehicles, we have given priority to the Ministry of Health- Uganda ambulances as per the cabinet directive.
Eng. Osele was a very brilliant soul, very kind, willing to always share his knowledge and so humble.
May his soul rest in Eternal Peace, and may the good Lord comfort his family and friends and the Ministry of Works & Transport family at large.

We have Lost the dedicated & invaluable Eng. Osele Patrick, Acting Assistant Commissioner Bridges & Drainage Structures. His hard work & good character have left an imprint in the sector.

This afternoon I have led a delegation from Busitema University to the Ministry of Works & Transport to discuss how to operationalise a Cabinet Decision to Start the Uganda Railway Institute to be based at Busitema University .
Meeting was Chaired by the Ministry of Works & Transport Permanent Secretary Mr. Bageya Waiswa.

The Engineers Registration Board - Uganda gave me a brief on the preparations for the World Engineering Day Celebrations slated for 3rd to the 5th of March starting with The Engineers Run on Sunday 3rd March, followed by a Conference on 4th March & concluding with an Oath taking Ceremony on the 5th.
Arua Airport to be developed into an International Airport under Build, Operate & Transfer Model.
A feasibility study is to be undertaken by a Private Investor M/s East of Eden.
General Edward Katumba Wamala has today signed an MoU with the investor following approval by the Solicitor General.
Hon. Byamukama Fred, the State Minister for Transport has visited the Uganda Driver Licensing System facility this morning to personally renew his Driving License and inspect the facility and the quality of services being offered.

The Minister of State for Works, Hon. Ecweru Musa Francis has today Commissioned the MV Mpungu. The ship is a 96 meter long roll-on roll-off freight vessel that will be operating on lake Victoria.
The vessel has the capacity to carry up to 21 cargo trucks.
I am greatly impressed by the services being offered at the Uganda Driving Licenses System Facility, I chose to wait in line and was surprised by the short waiting time. We must strive for more such efficient services.

Emphasis in reducing road fatalities in the Albertine region will be placed in the creation of road safety awareness among school going children. Ministry of Works & Transport in conjunction with Uganda Police Force and rad safety stakeholders are organizing road safety workshops for teachers.

I am in Kakindo Town Council, Kakumiro District this afternoon to launch a Road Safety Campaign in the Albertine Region. According to Uganda Police Force reports, the region has the highest probability of fatalities from road crashes which we must fight against.

On 2nd February 2024,H.E the President Yoweri K Museveni assented to the Civil Aviation Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
The Act aligns Uganda CAA with international standards, grants inspectors unrestricted access, and enables recognition of agreements with third-party States.
