He arrived at #Auschwitz on 31 August 1942 in a transport of 1,000 Jews deported from Drancy. He was among the 676 people murdered after selection in a gas chamber.


8 March 1929 | A French Jewish girl, Claudine Malack, was born in Paris.
She arrived at #Auschwitz on 13 November 1942 in a transport of 745 Jews deported from Drancy. She was among the 599 people murdered after selection in a gas chamber.



12 March 1939 | A French Jewish boy, Roger Portigheis, was born in Nice.
He arrived at #Auschwitz on 20 December 1943 in a transport of 850 Jews deported from Drancy. He was among 505 people murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.

Both a Holocaust survivor and the Auschwitz Memorial Museum have pointed out that today's 'dehumanizing' immigration rhetoric on the right mirrors that of 1930s Germany, as I pointed out on Channel 5 this morning.

12 March 1943 | A 14-year old Polish girl, Czesława Kwoka (camp no. 26947), was murdered in #Auschwitz with a phenol injection into the heart. She was deported by Germans from Zamość region as part of their plan of creating „living space” in the east.


11 March 1887 | A Polish Jew, Noachim Leiman, was born in Tuszyma. A clerk.
In #Auschwitz from 5 May 1942.

11 March 1882 | A Czech Jewish woman, Emilie Popperová, was born.
She was deported to #Auschwitz from the #Theresienstadt ghetto on 6 September 1943. She did not survive.


The world lost another #Holocaust #Auschwitz survivor. We share with great sadness that our friend, Rose Schindler (1929-2023), passed away at 93.
May her memory be a blessing.




11 March 1974 | A Polish midwife Stanisława Leszczyńska passed away.
She was incarcerated in #Auschwitz in April 1943 (no. 31335)
In the female camp she received childbirths, trying to save mothers & refusing to kill newborn babies.
At least 700 babies were born in Auschwitz.


11 March 1892 | A Pole, Tadeusz Tański, was born. An engineer & designer of the 1st Polish serially-built car, the CWS T-1.
