Generally most of us have enough "stuff". What we should be after is happiness and fulfilment. Buying a new phone, pair of shoes or the latest widget doesn't move the needle on that.

It's not always easy being #frugal in this consumer focused world we live in. But I think delaying instant gratification for the larger goal of #financialindependence and a more fulfilling life is ultimately worth it.

Lifestyle creep is the enemy of #financialindependence and owning our time. Stop hording, stop buying things we don't need. All we need is health and the time to enjoy that health. #fi #fire #leanfire #fatfire

Most of life is about finding balance. This is true for how much we work, exercise and eat. Going to extremes in either direction isn't healthy. While aiming for #financialindependence, I try to balance #fatfire and #leanfire to ensure I enjoy the destination and the journey.

We're on our way to #fire and #earlyretirement but we have a child so the journey will definitely take longer. What are your thoughts on achieving #fi when you're not a #dink #financialindependence #financialfreedom

We don't need to beat the market to grow our wealth. We can simply match the market, ensure our fees are low and optimize our tax.

What do you value more: Stuff or experiences? New TV's, cars and clothes or travelling the world? Keeping up with the joneses or #financialindependence ? #debt or #freedom ?

What's your savings rate sitting at on your journey to #financialindependence Ours is currently about 50% and we have 1 new born baby. #savingsrate #fire #leanfire #fatfire

Do you use a credit card? Our family puts all of our montly expenses on a credit card and then we pay it off in full at the end of every month. This means we pay zero interest and zero transaction charges. Anyone else? Thoughts on credit cards?

Saving 25 times (or more) our annual expenses isn't the only way to reach FI. We can also do it by replacing our salaried income through property, dividends or side hustles. Forge your own path.

Why are you working towards FI? Do you... - Dislike your job - Want to pursue other interests - Value the freedom and security of FI Something else?

For those chasing Lean FIRE, be careful you're not putting too much faith into a stock market that does nothing but go up. From 2000 to 2010 the US stock market did nothing but go side ways. Can your Lean FIRE plan handle 10 years of zero returns?

Most of us invest in the stock market to reach financial independence, but that's not the only way to get there. Have you given any (or all) of these a try? moneyfi.app/blog/the-best-…

The end goal of FI is sometimes so attractive that we forget to live our lives right here and now. I know I'm certainly guilty of this. Let's try to find a balance between reaching FI as soon as possible while also enjoying the journey.

End of the month,...time to update our investments, spending and income in the Money FI platform. Let's see how we're doing 😁

People tend to conflate the desire to work for yourself with the ambition to do grandiose things. I’m not trying to become the next Zuckerberg. I just want to wake up whenever I want. Take mid-day naps. Spend time with my kids without asking for permission. That sort of thing.
