I had a crazy conversation with a friend who wants to start building startups too, his name is cso and before this he was always a freelancer

The problem he had was he thought every idea he had was not big enough or did not have 'product founder fit'

With that he meant he…

I think newsletters conceptually make authors feel like they need to publish more. But I think a sensitivity to the idea of an inbox means you should actually publish less.

Every day you risk being someone's 100th email. It should be worthwhile.

I find it distasteful, almost unethical, to say this when you have 18 million subscribers.

Hard to explain why, but with great reach comes great responsibility. Potentially killing someone else’s nascent project reeks of carelessness.

This is what YC founders don’t get.

YC benefits from accidental discoveries of its portfolio, but individual founders who go ALL IN on one thing won’t.

What’s good for the collective (portfolio) is not necessarily good for the individual. It’s a non-ergodic system.

Debt jubilees go back at least 4,000 years, as a way of correcting public instability and other things. They’re a good tool when the circumstances justify it.

But forgiving student debt at taxpayers’ expense without attempting to correct the mess that caused it is just amoral.

Rivian is in trouble, losing $33K on every $80K vehicle it sells. I’m hoping for miracle and they turn this around somehow as their products are excellent.

Forget MRR. Lifetime return is the way to measure commercial success for your projects.

Ideally this would be profit, but close enough since it’s all digital one-person businesses:
