5th grade created their own frozen yogurt mixed-media pieces. Value is the lightness or darkness of colors. They created value with paint by mixing in white and black, and with chalk pastels for highlights and shadows. Monaco Elementary #aubreyproud Aubrey ISD #inspiringhope

It was a pleasure getting to teach a slew of 100 year old guest artists (coincidentally on 100th day of school) in the art room during my kindergarten time slot last week. I sure did miss my kindergarten friends though! Aubrey ISD Monaco Elementary #elementaryart #inspiringhope

4th grade Monaco Elementary artists have been color mixing machines as they create color wheels. The wheels are currently being transformed into something new that each artist individually dreams up! I can’t wait to share all of their creativity! #inspiringhope Aubrey ISD #aubreyproud

5th grade artists studied the work of Kimmy Cantrell. Students were challenged to design a face with asymmetrical features. We are continuing color studies, so their piece also had to show an evident understanding of complementary colors. #inspiringhope Monaco Elementary Aubrey ISD

2nd grade just completed truly remarkable backgrounds for an upcoming special feature! They learned how to create abstract art, allowing their emotions to speak through their work. Each of these include collage, mark-making and paint! #inspiringhope Monaco Elementary Aubrey ISD

Weaver fever is spreading amongst Monaco Elementary. Some efficient weavers are learning more difficult techniques and larger looms. Friday, I had a stampede of little weavers come to me AT DISMISSAL for yarn to use over the weekend. ❤️ #inspiringhope Aubrey ISD

These artists learned that weaving is one of the oldest art forms and how different cultures from around the world have used weaving. Mrs. O shared some of her original weavings as well as work from some of her favorite weavers of today! Monaco Elementary #inspiringhope Aubrey ISD

I teach and create with 12 classes each day and it ends with the sweetest and “littlest hands” of them all. The joy and excitement of creating, exploring and making discoveries is never lost on these guys. ❤️ Here they are exploring texture: #artedmatters Monaco Elementary Aubrey ISD

These glee-filled Monaco Elementary artists painted their shoe-stamped, salt dough texture pendants with my favorite “faux-ceramic glaze” paint. 🤩 They picked from a variety of beads to add; “gold” was unanimously the favorite! What a fine crew of proud jewelry makers! Aubrey ISD

After being taught clay techniques, along with practice & planning time, students had 2x their art class time for one period to create their design, problem solve, and execute their idea. 100% engagement-hinking/working hard, & having fun I ❤️ messy hands! Aubrey ISD Monaco Elementary

Some “sweet” art work created by our Monaco Elementary artists is showcased at our favorite local froyo shop, Pooky’s! It’s a fundraiser too! Head over to see some art that will make you drool and then satiate that craving with something Pooky-licious through 5/21! Aubrey ISD
