Happy to share our new preprint, led by Silva Kasela & UCSF's Stephanie Christenson! We analyzed genetic and non-genetic factors affecting the expression of COVID-19 relevant genes in the large airway epithelium, leveraging respiratory disease cohorts.🧵: medrxiv.org/content/10.110…

I'm excited to share our new preprint, led by my postdoc Dafni and Beryl Cummings in collaboration with Garrett Garborcauskas, Daniel MacArthur, Oxford Nanopore and others: Transcriptome variation in human tissues revealed by long-read sequencing. Thread 👇 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Delighted to share work from my postdoc, co-advised by Neville Sanjana and Tuuli Lappalainen! It began with wanting to identify target genes for GWAS with CRISPR screens and single-cell seq. Brief look below, with shout-outs to my amazing co-authors! Link: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

I’d like to congratulate the June bug for overtaking the Stink bug in my “most idiotic bug” rankings. The only activity I have seen them do thus far is fly around, bump into things too hard, fall on the floor, and proceed to slowly die. They are hopeless.

Some of the most satisfying GWAS results are seen for core molecular traits. This paper reports GWAS of a fascinating molecular trait--protein glycosylation (a post translational modification) nature.com/articles/s4146…

From mutations -> biophysics to map allosteric sites in proteins: nature.com/articles/s4158… So many thanks to the dream team that made this possible! Andre Faure @ajfaure.bsky.social+Joern Schmiedel+Guillaume Diss+cristina hidalgo-carcedo+Ben Lehner Next steps, mutate them all!! 🧵👇

I knew suicide rates for Black youth have been rising, especially since the pandemic began. But this lecture by Dr. Benton highlighted many other facts I wasn’t aware of. Gonna share some for folks who are interested.

1/10 Large eQTL resources enable identification of genes for which cis-eQTL effects colocalize with GWAS hits. We are happy to announce that our MetaBrain study and eQTL resource is now out at Nature Genetics (nature.com/articles/s4158…).
