This group was learning about “signal vowels” today during Daily 5! UF Literacy Institute #literacy

How it started: “I finally learned how to paddle a canoe” VS what it became! We used our main event writing skills to convert a boring main event into an exciting one. Don’t forget to s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-t-o-u-t when adding action to your stories 😊

The biggest map we have ever seen! We got to see the map of Canada through a different lens today 🗺️

We wrote examples of main events that belong on each side of our continuum. We each wrote a weak and strong example to put up. After we complete the continuum we can use it to compare our own stories to 😊

Our moon phase craft today. We discovered that the 30 day moon cycle is connected to the creation of our months. The word month is from the root of moon! Today 94% of the moon is illuminated meaning we are in the Waning Gibbous phase 🌔 East Lake School

Our book covers have been laminated! We are in the process of writing our own narrative stories. Currently we are working on the main events. Can’t wait to see the final product. East Lake School

Matching improper fractions had us in strategy mode. Some students counted the numerators first and some started with denominators. Listen in on our fraction chats 🤔💭
