I’m looking for a website that’s free where our pupils could upload a book review or log books they have read. Does anyone have any recommendations? I’ve seen posts somewhere before! Emily Weston Mr G Ashley Booth help please!

I have two copies of The Visualiser Handbook to give away. This is for busy teachers who need concise clarity to make live modelling an effect part of their practice ASAP. To enter, follow, like and retweet this post and I will draw winners at random on the 18th July.

As the year draws to a close, I'm sharing my Y6 reading folder (though there are some random bits in like some Y2 lessons) for free, which is full of Y6 whole class reading lessons. drive.google.com/drive/folders/… Plus my (very long) blog on how we teach it: mrboothy6.wordpress.com/2025/01/03/who…

Just to remind everyone we’re working in a world in which grown adults are arguing about: - the size of the dot in comparison to the comma - the height of the dot - the direction of the curve of the comma on a SEMI-COLON DRAWN BY A 11yo THAT IS GRAMMATICALLY ACCURATELY PLACED

Anyone out there using topic books? Which curriculum areas/work are stored in there and what do you like/dislike about them? #edutwitter

Mr G All you can do, imo, is read widely and often with the children and teach them in a way that gets them to enjoy it, even if it is just in those moments. The constant pursuit of embedding a culture for reading for pleasure is fruitless, as it won't work for everyone, just like...

And just like that, I’ve finished book number 1 of the holidays. Absolutely amazing and cannot wait to read it to my class when we are back! Pinched it from Ashley Booth reading collection

I'm repeating my online 'Building a Classroom Reading Culture' session on Monday 11th August at 10:00am. There's no fixed price for tickets as all donations will go directly to Medical Aid for Palestinians (map.org.uk). Please share! justgiving.com/page/jonathan-…

I've written dozens of articles about Reading for Pleasure for Educate magazine. They cover a wide range of topics: poetry, reading buddies, representation, empathy, book talk, author visits, choosing books and more. They can now be found on my Padlet. padlet.com/Jon_Biddle/rea…

We are so lucky to have someone in school looking after our library and making sure it’s well stocked! Also a bonus when I send a little sneaky lookout list and she pops up now and again with these corkers! 20p!!

Everyone working in primary schools wants to raise standards in reading. For me, the best starting point is Primary Reading Simplified by Christopher Such. It's superb and covers everything, with phonics, fluency, comprehension and RfP all being explored.

Do we sometimes over-complicate reading for pleasure in schools? Give pupils access to an exciting and diverse range of reading material. Prioritise time during the school day for reading, both individually and as a class. Ensure there's time for quality book talk. It works.
