To honour the 215 Indigenous children who died at a residential school in Kamloops, along with the thousands who never came home from residential schools, our schools and offices will be flying flags at half-mast. Join us in honouring them by wearing orange on Monday & Tuesday.

We had a beautiful afternoon walk for #RockYourRoots. We painted 215 rocks to honor the children found in Kamloops, + one to represent ourself and dispersed them on our walk. Back in class we wrote down our own commitments to truth and reconciliation. Lakeridge School

Miss Mennie decided to try something new this summer. She took a beginner embroidery class and made lots of mistakes. But those mistakes sure taught her a lot! She is pretty happy with her final project! #AlwaysLearning

One of the most significant things we could do to change education for the better would be to really acknowledge difference. We could simply accept that not all five year olds are ready to read, and not all 16 year olds are ready to do high stakes exams. 1/

One of the faults of K to 12 math education is that it determines relationship with mathematics proportional to understanding of mathematics in inorganic, compressed time lines. I can't paint or play a musical instrument, but I love art and music...

Teacher well-being is about ensuring staff don't have to regularly spend a large chunk of their weekend working, not about giving them a sachet of hot chocolate to drink while they're doing it.

Your attitude about mathematics will play a big role in shaping your students' attitude about mathematics. Their attitude will shape their identity with mathematics. Be open, vulnerable, honest, and curious. It's far more important than being correct and loaded with strategies.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but…. It’s not bad for a child to have an IEP. And they are not “low” because of their IEP. 🗣️🗣️🗣️
