Some of my kiddos have been working on place value and addition with regrouping but it’s always good to check in on our skip-counting we worked so hard on in Term 1. Will start to use spiral learning by adding two sums of different bills/coins #MySilverCreek HDSB

It’s a Proud Teacher moment when your student finds the chapter book for whole Class Read Aloud on Epic during asynchronous time and wants to read it to you to try, even when she thinks it’s too tricky to read it independently #MySilverCreek

My students started the year being sad/frustrated when they weren’t the one who got the right answer, now I hear congratulations & encouragement.. this was music to my ears w/lots of modelling encouragement every week 🥹.. Best birthday gift a teacher could get #MySilverCreek

Unfortunately the power at school went out before our Virtual Special Athlete’s Meet, but my students were SUPER excited to hear themselves and see their posters at the live event. Thank you HDSB Special Education Services and Penny Stevens + Claire for including us! #mysilvercreek

Mixed bag of emotions as I head in to a new school and a completely new role I’ll be teaching for the next few months. (A side note: if anyone has any resources/tips for 8th grade - pls share). ☺️

Day 1: “Ms Bal, can we go outside to get to know each other”. Day 2: “Are we going outside today, like 8-1 got to go”. Day 3: “Why can’t we go out and just do our thing not your activities”. Got some eye rolls but safe to say 8-1 & 8-2 enjoyed the class games Martin Street PS 🤭

8th graders may act too cool for school sometimes but this bunch definitely took time to look at their own work anytime it was added. I even heard one say “mines not up yet, I finished it!!” to a friend. I’ll showcase my favourite board when I get them all up! Martin Street PS
