We welcomed MP David Rutley and Fouzia Younis, the Consul General of the United Kingdom, to City Hall earlier this week.

I wish the injured officer a quick recovery.

This week, three Toronto Police officers were injured doing their duties. One assaulted walking down the street, another hurt intervening in a car theft, and now this troubling incident. Violence is never acceptable.

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of joining Black Healthcare Professionals Network to celebrate the outstanding contributions of Black healthcare workers and help award some incredible work to keeping us all healthy.

The City of Toronto launched the Confronting Anti-Black Racism action plan five years ago. Now, as part of a 10-year action plan, we are renewing the process to assess our progress and next steps.

It was an honour to join Eid congregations at Cornell Park in Scarborough and Dentonia Park near Victoria Park and Danforth to mark the end of Ramadan this morning. Thank you for welcoming me.

By doing this work, we’ll improve public confidence in City Services. People will be able to see the standards we’ve set and how we’re performing, with clear benchmarks and goals.

It’s more transparency and accountability.

We are asking staff to report back on establishing a ward dashboard with 311 performance indicators, emerging or seasonal trends, geographic patterns, top issues, and more.

That way, we can get a complete picture. 5/6

It looks like simple changes like closing the loop with the person who wrote or called to make a request. Sometimes, simple actions like informing the residents that the road was fixed demonstrate that the City cares. That it listens and has your back. 4/6

It looks like integrating divisions, so the public has a uniform, consistent, helpful and positive experience accessing important City services.

Whether it’s waste collection, parks, water, animal services, road repairs or whatever else people need from their City. 3/6

The goal is to continuously improve frontline services and to be more responsive to people’s needs.

What does that look like? 2/6

Torontonians deserve high-quality, responsive City services.

By leveraging 311 data, we can focus on the services that need improvement and where to put new ones.
